Children, Teens and Young Adults

children & self-esteem

Self-esteem building starts early. Depending on the age, play- or talk therapy can teach a child to value themselves, without external sources of validation, which tend to do more harm than good.

teens & cell phones

Almost every female client I have seen has an issue arising from cell-phone use. Boys also suffer. On-line bullying is real. Teens and young adults need help to recognize that cell phones and their contents do not define them.

depression & suicide

Parents and their children must learn to recognize the signs of depression.

Through our counseling and support, we can teach individuals to cope with their depression and support the ones that are affected.

teens & pornography

Even inadvertent viewing of pornography can change the neural makeup of a young person's brain.

This affects their relationships forever.

If the desired outcome is healthy emotional and sexual relationships for your children as they mature into adulthood, then this issue must be addressed.

anxiety & resilience

Anxiety is the fear of the unknown and how one will react to it. Anxiety unchecked can cause depression. Resilience can counter anxiety and depression. Becoming resilient is a function of having insight into the problems of the day. Counseling allows a person to understand their anxieties and how that causes them to be depressed. We then "plan for the probable," which tends to relieve anxiety.

Better parents parent better. Parenting is a skill that constantly evolves. It changes with each child and with each generation.

Every parent is doing the best they can with what they have.

Counseling can teach a parent to be better at parenting. It is a great investment because your children are learning from you and will apply what they have learned to your grandchildren!
